Less salt means you will retain less water. I guess that would help lose some pounds, but it's just water weight, if you are healthy you shouldn't have that much extra.

Yes reducing salt will result in weight loss. Not everyone that answered seems to know so. Of course consuming less sugar will result in weight loss. But over time consuming less salt will trigger weight loss.
Are you referring to the magnitude of reduction of salt or weight?
If salt, I would say almost completely cut it out of your diet.
If we are talking weight (depending on your salt consumption), It would be an average of 1 pound a month. If you consume more salt though, and then cut it out you could lose more.

Reducing salt in the diet does not help with the weight loss.Keep using salt.Don't listen to the doctors, salt is a very important thing in the body.If you are out in the desert with no water, salt keeps you from dehydrating.

A lower salt/sodium dies does not hurt any of us. 4,000 mg. per day of sodium is enough for anyone. That means no added salt. There are lots of substitute products on the market today, and some of them are not bad. You just have to keep sampling until you find one that tates ok to you. That will cut out a LOT of fluid retention, thus result in some wt. loss.

reducing salt may not reduce your weight, but it will help to reduce high blood pressure, as too much salt in diet makes you retain fluids.
