This is something that we all have to learn to do. Good for you for realizing this is a problem, and trying to find the solution to it. I think the answer is different for everyone, so I will tell you what I have discovered works for me. Pay off your credit card bills, or any other credit you owe. If you owe a lot of money, you have to work all of the time to pay your bills. When you are not working you are worried about your bills, and life is too short to be worrying about finances. This of course means not spending as much money. Do you really need that new car, that 2nd TV, that larger home? These things do not bring true happiness anyway. We have been brainwashed as a culture to think we have to buy buy buy, well we don't have to buy. Take some time to listen to the birds, yup, the birds. Go into the woods, a park, your back yard, or where ever it is quiet, and just sit and listen. Don't sit and worry about where you have to go or what you have to do, just sit and listen and live in that moment. Don't over book your schedule, and let some things go. Good luck to you.

Change. In any form. Life speeds up when you follow a pattern in a daily or weekly manner. It begins in your teenage years, and gets progressively faster and faster from work/college onward. Try new things, do stuff you've never done before. Challenge yourself.

I find that the amount of activity in life doesn't matter: if you have five minutes of "you" time in your life, or if you spend every other day to yourself, a rut is a rut. Change makes your mind break that pattern and slow down. Variety is the spice of life, but don't just think of food when you hear that.

Well it seems like you took the first step by noticing it yourself...now that you see what you are doing, maybe you will be able to find other things to do to slow yourself down. Too many of my friends were living life too fast..and it ended up killing them. Put yourself in check before its too late.

Okay, while the US armed forces are nice, and I love being in their JROTC and ROTC.......here's a much simpler thing

You need to take time for yourself. It sounds to me like you are just constantly going going going. Take a day and give yourself a spa treatment at home. Pull out your favorite bubble bath and take a long soak.
Take a day and read a whole book, one that YOU want to read. Nothing for school or anything like that. And if you feel rushed in daily life take just a moment, stop and take a deep breath, breathing from the gut. Close your eyes and think about something peaceful.

Clutter is chaos. Keep your home or apartment meticulous. Pay your bills on time to reduce financial anxiety. If you are still in a rush then start the day an hour earlier. Examine your friends closely and see if one or some are causing you to live in a hurry. Good luck.

Meditate. I do a lot of reading too. Going for walks - NOT runs, and stop along the way to 'smell the flowers.' Stay away from coffee, and take it easy with TV. Most of the shows get you revved up. One thing that has helped me the most is writing a journal.

Just take some deep breaths, tell yourself you need to slow down a bit, taking in more of nature if you can. Chamomile tea,
Hot bath, a book, those things can help slow down the mind.

I feel the same way. Enjoy the present because soon it is the past.

Stop what you are doing when you feel you aren't there mentally.
Take a minute and realize that you are alive, breathing, and in the present. It is a sobering thought.

Then concentrate on taking in everything around you.

Being observative can help.

close your eyes and clear your mind thinking of a peaceful place you've been to or want to go. take deep breaths and let it out slow. its used for stress relief and getting back in control. activities that are pyhsical can help you wind down as racketball, tennis, softball team etc. also your favorite music on headphones with your eyes closed in a reclined posirion helps.
