Indian reservations are not a sovereign nation. The ultimate jurisdiction is U.S. marshalls. In any U.S. neighborhood, a person could be considered unwelcome or tresspassing.

Many reservations including reservations in Washington, California and other parts of the nation are some of the most beautiful pieces of land you could possibly visit. All people are welcome to reservations and many individuals living there are very respectful and welcoming. I am a Native American and was raised to be respectful to everyone and anyone I met. I was raised with values that included treating people as equals.

So to answer your question no you would not be considered an "illegal alien" if you decided to visit a reservation. Native Americans are considered a soverign nation but the laws enforced on tribal lands are the same as any other piece of land in America. I have heard before that my neighboring tribe has kicked a tribal member off of the reservation and did not allow that person back for a number of years but that was only because he disgraced the tribe. No one can run you off a reservation and there are many "non-natives" that have moved to reservations to do internships at local clinics or have moved there from a different tribe. Native Americans are very proud people who enjoy sharing their culture with others so I am sure you would be more than welcome as long as you show respect while there.

Not alien-you are in the right country. But they protect their land-you could not set up housekeeping and not respect their laws. You could not take their work away from them. You could not make them pay because you crossed into their land.
So Your point has no value.

Angie-you are right-I have family in the state of Washington. I also know some Indians there who had to speak up for their land to protect it from others trying to butt in to their ways. And there have been problems with selling of land to others (not Indians) and it concerned ownership of Indian land. I know I looked there and was advise that Indian ownership of land could be tricky if I wanted to buy--they could demand it back some day. You are so very right--it is beautiful country-keep it that way please.

No. Why do you? Don't go there and stop playing your race card. Why didn't they throw you off Yahoo yet?

However, according to you, since they are Americans, they'd most likely be stuck up, arrogant and rude, just like the rest of us Americans. Tribes of America have some of the best people in this world, try not to forget that.

Only if you rent a house & send your children to school & receive assistance checks. Oh wait, they have thrown your rear end off the reservation by then.

I would hope so. Except the reservations are generally on such useless land why would you go there? At least you can grow crops (or casinos) in Michigan

If you plonk yourself down on the reservation ... demand RIGHTS on it ... start waving the flag around ... shout abuse and say this land was yours to begin with ... refuse to leave when you're asked ... I would say you'd be considered an ignorant lout ... and hopefully be removed forcefully ....
