Just wondering, and if so, why?

I dont mean any disrespect, I appreciate all the sacrificies you and your loved ones have made to defend our country. I was wondering what reasons one of you would have if you did regret it.

Regret is something you should feel when you've done something wrong. A soldier does his duty, and nothing more. He is not allowed any moral decisions. He does not participate in the decision making. If anything a soldier deserves our greatest respect, for he takes on the front line, does the dirty work.

The responsibility of the destruction caused by war lies elsewhere.
When society permits war, that is wrong. They are the ones who should feel regret. When a nation allows decides to invade another, that is wrong. They are the ones who should feel regret. When the leaders of the nation give the orders, that is wrong. They are the ones who should feel regret.

I am not a soldier, but my dad was in the army and we have had long discussion on this subject.

Nope, retired Army been to Iraq three times. Seen more good things happening over there in one day than the press has reported in the last three years. Don't regret my service there for a second...

The only time I regret doing anything in the military is when I come across some of the assholes I've been helping to protect. And then I wish they would have gotten blown up. It makes me feel stupid and so used for protecting people that don't have any respect for people that are different than them.

You ask that question as if we have a choice. Our job is to follow orders, we are not there because we are looking for a good time. We are there, because of an oath/promise we made to our country. Most people don't understand because they dont know what that kind of loyalty is, nor have they ever practiced it.

Regets? Hell NO!!!! At least when I sleep at night, I can say I have kept my promises.
