YOU GET THE POT OF WATER BOILING AND THEN ADD THE CORN AND SHUT THE WATER OFF AND LET SIT IN THE POT COVERED FOR 5-10 MINUTES.

Bring a pot of water to boil. Throw the corn in the water, put a lid on the pot, and turn off the heat. Leave it alone and check back in a while. Cooks perfectly. Even better is putting it on the grill. Rub some butter on it or spray it with the spray butter. Nice and black in spots (it's caramalizing not burning). Yum.

Bring you water to a boil. Add the corn. Return to a boil. Cook for 7 minutes. Don't cook any longer than that or it will be mushy.
My father grew corn! That's how we did it.

OC42 is correct. The person that said cook it for 40 minutes is wrong. That would be the mushiest corn ever. I add sugar to the water also.

You let it boil until the kernels get soft.....If the corn is not ripe, it will take longer to soften the kernels, best to use ripe corn.

Fresh from the garden...about 40 mins or so...you can tell it is done when to can stick a fork in the kernels and they are soft.
