no where in the Bible that I have seen does it say that you should not follow the 10 commandments... if we were intended not to follow them, they would not be in there

The bible doesnt say that. But i can see where other people are getting it from. In the old testament, there were a ton of laws. You had to do this and this and this to follow God. And you had to sacrifice things when you sinned to become clean again. But in the New Testament the ultimate sacrifice emerges, Jesus Christ. God sacrificed his son for us so that we didnt have to continue to sacrifice things to be close to him. So now we dont follow the rules in the old testament about sacrificing stuff. But it never says not to follow the 10 commandments. In the new testament Jesus is asked, which of the commandments is the greatest and he says this - "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22: 37 - 40) Well if you look in the ten commandments.. those really aren't commandments. But if you follow them, you will be following the 10 commandments because loving the Lord and loving your neighbor will lead you to follow the commandments. Anyway i hope that helps and if you ever run into someone who says they dont follow the ten commandments because the bible says not to.. just ask them where it says... but do it w/ respect and love! :)

In Exodus, chapter 20 of the Bible God states the 10 commandments.
The overall emphasis is relationships. Two in fact, one with God and the second with fellow man.
When Jesus in the New Testament gospels was asked what summed up God's deisire for us (this is God in the flesh by the way), he said in Mark 12:28-34 that above all else God wants us faithful to him and loving to other people.
So that is the 10 commandments and if you confess to be Christian, you'd do well to adhere to them.

We as Christians are no longer bound by the laws given to Moses, including the 10 commandments. When Jesus came to earth, he fulfilled the Law.
Christians are urged to “fulfill the law of the Christ,” rather than to keep the Ten Commandments. (Galatians 6:2) Jesus gave many commands and instructions, and by our obeying them we are keeping or fulfilling his law. In particular, Jesus stressed the importance of love. (Matthew 22:36-40; John 13:34, 35) Yes, to love others is a Christian law. It is the basis of the entire law of Moses, as the Bible says: “The entire Law stands fulfilled in one saying, namely: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’”—Galatians 5:13, 14; Romans 13:8-10.
The law given through Moses, with its Ten Commandments, was a righteous set of laws from God. And even though we are not under that law today, the divine principles behind it are still of great value to us. By studying and applying them we will grow in appreciation for the great Lawgiver. But especially should we study and apply in our lives Christian laws and teachings. Love for God will move us to obey all that he now requires of us.—1 John 5:3.

Why do you ask questions you do no longer want an answer to? the factor to the Bible and Christianity is which you would be able to't keep on with The Bible good. that's what makes a Christian a Christian. Being a sinner is a prerequisite to being a Christian. the problem with faith is that it says, "do good, get good. Do undesirable, get undesirable". Christianity says that God did each thing for us. All we'd desire to constantly do is believe and get in touch with get carry of His eternal present of salvation. it quite is named The Gospel of Grace. once you're feeling undesirable, do no longer blame the Christians. you spot, Eve blamed the serpent whilst she did what God instructed her to no longer do. Adam blamed Eve or maybe blamed God for his sin. and human beings have been blaming actual everyone else ever when you consider that. once you get offended at Christians, it quite is named self-condemnation. there is not any reason to experience that way. Jesus died so as which you on no account had to experience that way. He grew to become into our Sacrifice as quickly as and for all.

The Ten Commandments are God's Law, and describe what His holiness demands. It is not an issue of whether it says we should or shouldn't follow them, the issue is this: we can't follow them. No one on earth has the ability to obey them.

The early church had to deal with this issue, and was discussed at great length. Paul discusses what the purpose of the law was. "So that the law has been our tutor up to Christ, that we might be justified on the principle of faith. But, faith having come, we are no longer under a tutor..." (Galatians 3:24)

Therefore, the law was designed to teach us what God requires, and that we can't keep it. We need help. A Savior. Someone who will intercede for us. That is why Jesus came. The writer to the Hebrews says, "Therefore, because he always lives to intercede for them, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him."

The Council in Jerusalem met to discuss the nature of the Law, while under grace. There were those in the church who demanded that the non-Jewish believers convert to Judaism to be Christian. ""They must be circumcised and ordered to keep the law of Moses." (Acts 15:5) But after much debate, the council agreed that this is something that even the Jews couldn't keep up with. Peter declared, "So why do you test God by putting on the disciples' neck a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we could carry? We certainly believe that it is through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ that we are saved, just as they are." (Acts 15:10-11)

This does not give us a license to sin against the Commandments, but gives us grace and mercy when we violate them. Paul says, "What, then, does this mean? Should we go on sinning because we are not under law but under grace? Of course not! Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey-either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? (Romans 6:15-16)

If we act out of a grateful heart, and live to please Christ, then we fulfill all of the requirements of the law. Jesus said, "Jesus said to him, "'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: 'You must love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39)

It says no where in the king james version of the bible. But not all religions take that version word for word. Some rely on older versions and some just take from the bible what fits their own version of what they believe to be true. It does say however that WE chose IF and HOW we beleive in god and how we worship (or not) Not one religion is absolute correct.

I think Paul said something to the effect that the old Jewish laws were no longer necessary to the followers of Christ, although Jesus said to not let one iota of the law pass away. All the laws, not just the ten that Christians think are more special than the others, should be obeyed, if you truely follow the word of Jesus. So, no more cheeseburgers for you.

It doesn't say that you shouldn't following the ten commandments. I once heard the Lord say to me and I have also read that if you love the Lord you will follow ALL His COMMANDMENTS.
