My parents grew up during the 70's hippy movement, and pretty much were open to everyone and everything.

They taught me the same. But, I also believe that racism in general is just plain silly.

First off, people have been mixing and marrying with different cultures since they found out they even had neighbors thousands of years ago. So there is no "pure" anything except the human race.

For anyone to get all bent out of shape now is ridiculous.

Yes, I was raised in West Texas and it was one of the most bigated societies that I know of. The segregation was white, hispanic, and black. Taught by parents, encouraged by friends I learned to be that way and before any of my children were born I learned that the color of the skin or the texture of the hair does not make us human beings. We all have the same organs that differ in size and ability but they make us human. My three boys are not racial by my hand as I do not teach or preach the difference and give it labels such as ****, ******, or any of the other slang as they do not exist in my house. I am a minority also as a am a Osage Indian and a member of the tribe out of the northwest Oklahoma clan. I hope that answers your question.

i wasn't taught. I, if anything, was taught to be accepting of all people. my emotions dictate my distaste for or unease of certain races. I just plain ol don't feel comfortable around certain races. I am white, never went to school with a black person until i was a junior in high school and we moved to Missouri. when i got there i had a completely open mind - it was the African Americans that were prejudiced of me.

Fortunately, I was not taught at home. I was born with an instinctive sense of fair play. When I encountered bigotry, I always rebelled. I tried to instill my values in my kids, but with varying success. All prejudice should stop .. no minority should be left out.

My family never believed in mixing races, but I didnt follow what they said. Everyone is differnt no and has there own problems, no matter what color you are. In my eyes when you love a person, it shouldnt matter what color they are. The Lord didnt put alot of differnt people on the world to all go seperate just cause of color. If you truley love and care about someone then color should not make a differnce. EVERYONE is differnt in their own ways, NO MATTER what color you are.
