I just saw a white worm hanging out of the kittens butt. Can I purcahse wormer myself and worm the kitten or should I take it to the vet? Doesn't the vet just give it wormer also? Are these worms life threatening to the kitten?

Unless they gave you proff of the shots, see the vet. Even if they did, the kitten will be due for the next one 21-28 days after the first. Then the vet can give you wormer also. Take a poop sample with you to the appointment!!!!!!!!!!!

Take it to the vet because some of the deworming products sold in the stores are not effective on all types of worms. Only the vet has the treatment for all possible types. Yes the kitten's life is at risk. Do this ASAP!

The wormer in the store only kills certain worms, their all many types of worms. If the worm is alive they did not worm it, but if the worm is dead they probably did. they will pass the worms out dead or alive. I would call your own vet and take it there. Or you can find out what vet they took it to and ask them exactly what they did to the kitten. You need to know anyway. If you care for your kitty call the vet.

If it was hanging from her butt as you put it, she has "ROUNDWORMS" they get them from the mother, you need to take your cat to the vets for deworming, if you see anything that looks like pieces of rice or magots as I call them, thats "TAPEWORM" and humans can catch that, so you want to have a vet for your pet and if you can't afford to, you can go on Ebay and look up "PET MEDICATIONS" and it will have stuff there,at a cheaper price. Make sure you know the cats weight before you order anything, thats what vets go by when they give meds to animals, their weight. But OTC meds don't work really, and can harm your animal.

Vet!. Take fecal sample so thery can determine the type of worms the cat has and treat it properly. OTC's don't work and they have killed pets.

go back to the people you got it from and let them know what you saw and ask them for a copy of the bill to verify that it was done.
Get it in writing.
If not then give the kitten back and money to.
Or just go the vet.
