This is a good question.
I do have an indirect answer that may offend many people out there.
Many Christians love to pick and choose what they want to believe the Bible says for the convenience of their particular lifestyle.
They like to say, for instance, that the Bible is the only book that is scripture and that it is absolutely true and the only truth because of a certain verse in Revelations, I consider this borderline Idolatry in a way many christians make the Bible its self a god when really it is just words on paper to be tested by the final authority(not your preacher) who is God, by His messenger, the Holy Ghost.
The Bible is a compilation( compiled by men of quenstionable authority) of Many books of Scripture and letters, many of which have been retranslated many times and hence lose the true intent and meaning of what was originally written.
Revelations, if you do your homework, chronologically wasn't that last book in the Bible and the Bible regularly mentions other "Books"(Jasher, book of the wars of the Lord, etc...). The Bible does contain much truth that is beneficial to anyone who wants to read it with an open heart and a willingness to listen to and do what God has to say to them.
Many christian preachers and members preach for doctrines the commandments of men and keep their hearts far from God ( the athenian and nicean creeds, what a confusing doctrine, how can you possibly come to know God through these paradoxes)
Again people who do this rationalizing do it because they don't seek to understand it through the Authority(God) they claim it was written under.
Micheal X, I really don't know how honest you are about finding the truth or if you are just stirring up contetion but this is my answer and I hope it helps. feel free to write.

There are very few contradictions in the bible. Those, only because some words can not be translated 100% correctly due to the fact that there just wasn't an exact translation. What seems to be rationalization to you is simply a spiritual expansion of the mind. Something that would be completely foreign to you and therefore not understandable. A non believer can never grasp the spiritual. it is above and beyond your capability.

Well, if you actually research and look into the linguistic information, cultural values and concepts, and textual criticism in relation to the Bible, Bible contradictions tend to turn out as either a mistranslation, a cultural oddity, aor a copyist's error! The most common, and most misguided, way to find a "Bible contradiction" is to read the Bible just like you would a newspaper: like it was written just for you yesterday!

There are no contradictions in the Holy Bible if you study hard and long.....Most people might read it once and say it's full of contradictions. That's because they haven't studied. It takes a lifetime of studying. If you think you know all the answers about the Bible, you've just lived too long, or better yet, you've not studied hard enough!

If you have found any, I suggest that you read again. The Bible has no contradictions whatsoever. People who claim that there are have either not read it themselves or are listening to someone who has no understanding of it. That is the God's honest truth.

the bible was written thousands of years ago. it has been rewritten many times. there are stories in the bible that you will find in the books of other religions. the names and places change but the stories are pretty much the same. these stories have been pasted down from generation to generation all around the world for thousands of years. the new testament is the words of Jesus and his disciples. but even there many parts of the new testament have been changed or left out by the catholic church. if more Christians knew and understood more about the bible and its real history they would find better ways of improving their lives.

I dunno, maybe because we believe that God is smarter than us and if some human being jumps up on a soap box and says...
"Hey! Look at this! Look at this! God made a mistake!"
....that it's a pretty safe bet that He who created every life form on this planet and put this ball of earth exactly in the right place for it to exist, who is the eternal, almighty, God of Heaven who gives us the breath of life and food to eat, probably hasn't made a mistake that little old you or I could catch Him on with our puny little finite brains.
Maybe a human made a mistake, but it wasn't God!
Does that answer your question?
