I try to imagine a situation where this question was posed by other animals vis-a-vis us.The coming of man has been an unmitigated disaster for the animal world.Where dinasaurs roamed the whole world their only trace remains in occsionally found broken bones(I don't believe for a moment the scientific canard that they were extinct by themselves long before man appeared on the scene). I feel that the animals would have unanimously voted for presevation of the home sapiens if for nothing else than preserving the variety in the animal world. They would not have held man's depredations in the forest and their decimation. Survival of the fittest is the basic tenet of the animal world and they would not have felt that man was acting in any way out of the way in doing this. The lion bears no personal grudge against the deer on whom it feeds. In fact, I have seen in the Discovery Channel lions sauntering by flocks of deers and deers even if raising their heads and pricking up their ears for a moment resumed their grazing implicitly knowing that he meant no harm to them. In Africa during long dry spells when water became scarce we can see lions and deers drinking water at the same source side by side the deers implicitly knowing that the lion is more thirsty than hungry. If animals could be so considerate and accommodating for man there is no reason why we should not reciprocate the same feeling. The step makes practical sense also because we find that the decimation occuring due to hunting has an effect of increasing deer population which poses a grave danger to standing crops. By all means we shoud live and also let them live.

Yes, I am for the conservation of wolves and bears in the USA. Why? They are a part of the food chain. All of the animal kingdom participates. For example, where I grew up they have a Rattlesnake Festival each year to thin out the population of snakes. I have hunters in the family; however they do NOT HUNT for killsport. Everything is used for food, including rattlesnake meat. At the end of the rattlesnake affair, a large gathering at the fairgorounds is hosted and a meal made out of the snakes is eaton along with sides everywhere from to homemade potato salad to peach pie and ice cream. I have eaten Elk filet mignon'. I have eaten quail, wild pig, duck, deer meat etc. When we kill, we eat it. That is the ONLY excuse to take life away from the animal kingdom. And the government allows a certain amount each year. If you want to cast blame and judgement, tell it to your local political representative I grew up in the country from when I was small. If we didn't have so many people (thus causing much construction), the inhabitants of the animal world wouldn't be forced into communities with such large numbers as to be dangerous. This is another case , clearly, of man going wild when the mild has to be persecuted (again) for what man has done.

Yes, I am, because it is not the animals that are moving into where we are , it is us who have moved into their areas and pushed them out with our need to live where they have lived for years. And now that we have moved into their areas, we don't want them there. We are constantly destroying and tearing apart forest es to build new developments in what was and still is for the animals their home. They are suppose to understand we humans now live there and they should not come and bother us. they should know better, We are just so intelligent about it all.
And yet we want to look out our windows and see the deer the pretty deer eating as long as he doesn't eat our flowers, or the bear that is eating for the winter or on that mating call, oh wait a minute, if there is deer around, guess there would be bears around too, not to mention the wolves. Because as I understand wolves do eat deer, And yet we built a new wonderful development right smack where they have always lived and hunted for years, maybe centuries.

I am for bring back both the bears and the wolves to America. Since the 1800's we have been killing both the bear and the wolf because they prey on livestock. What has happened is that the deer population has exploded and even hunting has not helped in some areas which makes for smaller and sicker animals.

Absolutely, because both are marvelous species that don't deserve to be near extinct. The misconception that bears and wolves are nuisances is not viable. More should be done to protect the species at a healthy but not unreasonable level (numbers).

I am deffinately for the conservation of both bears and wolves. It is a sad situation when any species of animal becomes extinct.

I agree with a previous answer that too much attempt of conservation of anything can be an "over-steering" issue and we end up with over population. But, I am much more for the idea of keeping things the way they were created to be. Our technological society is killing all traditions, which includes the tradition of where earth began. There are things that are where they are because they were intended to be there. Wiping something out is completely selfishness and a lack of tolerance and understanding.

Sure those hairy beasts care and get to need some company and honeysuck. Every wolf I know likes to be petted and mugged, go figure. Now bears go on honey and will share it for the right price. Funds can run low on their hides not on their company, man. Parks are amusing when they succeed at insulting themselves not their animals. If some missinformation and bait is displayed along with loyal info on them, and cookies, they will joy at you and cheer for safe return. They sure need conservation, their spouses wolfe and bear female do need those beasts alive and well, dont you think?
Very often it is advised to care for life not its ingredients, bye.

I'm for. WE can no longer depend on natural selection to work. Humans have shewed up what mother nature put in to place to make sure we can live on a plant that can support life. If it was not for animals like wolfs and bears we would be up to your butts in prey animals that would destroy your farms.
