I can't afford to buy microsoft and borrowing a cd is not an option since microsoft will check to see if it is genuine. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes:
For an operating system, use Linspire. It is Linux based but will also run almost all Windows products.
They also have 'office' products.

Or try Linux Fedora. Usually available for free on mags which explain how to install it.

For office products, also look at Open Office. It is community-developed and free. Can open and save in Microsoft formats though those if you must exchange files with those who only have MS products.

If you're talking about an operating system, use one of the older systems like Windows 2000 or Win 98SE, and those will validate.

If you're talking about Microsoft Office, download OpenOffice for free.
