I follow the directions that were on the package for both stovetop and microwave methods, but I either get a pasty mess or hard grains. Both microwave and stovetop are almost the same - 1 cup rice to 2.5 cups water. Cook rice on highest setting for 5 minutes, the reduce heat and cook for 40 more min. On the stovetop, the water evaporates long before the 40 minutes - I have to keep adding water.

Buy ADOLPHUS LONG GRAIN RICE. Get a10'' skillet, put 2 tablespoonfuls of wesson(crisco) oil, turn the heat(flame) to in between medium and high, add 2 cups of rice and stir as it begins to brown, ( careful not to let it burn ), Have ready: 1 quart of hot water, tomato sauce(1 small can), salt , black pepper, garlic powder (not garlic salt), ground cominos, once the rice looks somewhat browned( not all the grains will brown ), carefully add the water, then about half the tomato sauce, then your seasonings, ( to taste), stir til everything mixes well, let it cook covered for about 10-12 minutes, check to see if it needs more water,, it usually does cause it will take about 20 minutes to be fully cooked. You can tell when it is almost fully cooked by sampling the rice, if it is still kind of gritty, it needs more time(check the water again), keep tasting, when it feels soft enough to chew, cut the flame off and let it continue to simmer in it's own heat for about 10 minutes. Try to leave some water in it so it doesn't dry up and get lumpy. It takes practice, but eventually you will get it right.

I part rice, two parts water in small quantities and 1 part rice, 2.5 parts water in quantities larger than 5 cups. Cook rice and water until boiling, and then when it boils reduce to low heat setting and cook for 20-25 minutes (depending if you cook on stovetop or gas). Same thing with white rice. Good luck!

The way i can tell you how to cook brown rice is the way ive seen Racheal Ray cook it lol...and trust me its the best way to cook this stuff..

1 cup rice 1 cup chicken stock use same amout of rice as chicken stock or water ...doing so will always make the rice fluffy and much better that overloading it with alot or water ..Using chicken stock will allow the rice to have much more flavor...This is a boiling method ,,you can always remove rice from pan once done and add to skillet with veggies of your choice...I would for sure try the equal parts out and as well the chicken stock. Using instant rice as well always works out better for me i always have the hard rice if its not the instant lol but if its not just make sure you cover it and cook slowly....hope this helps some

I follow the same directions, but don't add water. Have the stove setting on minimum for the 40 minutes. (Add chopped onions, safron and an oxo cube to the water for great taste).
