it is said that once a week you should strip your hair with lemon juice or mayo to have healthy looking hair i guess there must be some kind of build up after conditioning everyday

That depends on whether or not you are using what is needed for your hair as opposed to what is being given to you. You need to be an informed consumer. If you use moisturizing shampoo when you have oily hair, then you will get build-up. If you condition too much you will also get build-up. Try using light shampoos and condition less often. You may also try a "hair detoxifier" from Aveda which retails for about $10 to $12.

No, not every conditioner leaves build up. And the expensive shampoos and conditioners are not the best always either, you need to change yours if they are leaving a waxy build up and try some others. If depends on the health of your hair too. If you highlight it or foil it, you will have more porous hair. They can. What you can do to combat build up is mix some simple baking soda to your shampoo once weekly, it will get rid of the residue build up from the products you use,or use a clarification shampoo once weekly.
