apostolic
1. pertaining to an apostle, or to the apostles, their times, or their peculiar spirit
2. according to the doctrines of the apostles; delivered or taught by the apostles
The term apostolic, in a literal sense, refers to apostles, or more specifically to the Twelve Apostles of Jesus.
Apostle meaning "Send one" can be compared to the spiritual version of an ambassador, which is more of a diplomatic "send one".

Apostolic means "relating to the Apostles and their teaching." It is not a religion but rather a doctrine which asserts that the Apostles designated their successors through prayer and the laying on of hands, and that those successors have in turn designated their successors in the same way ever since.
Apostolic succession as the outward and visible sign of inward faithfulness to the Christian message is considered essential to ecclesiastical life by the Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches; and it is held in some form by Anglican and some Lutheran churches. Most Protestant churches, however, emphasize other links with the continuity of Christian faith, such as Scripture and creeds.

The Aposolic church is a protestant denomination that uses the name because they tend to put emphasis on looking at what the apostles (Peter and Paul) did in the book of Acts as one of their guides of church conduct and rules.
Most are strict, may have "dress codes" and haircut codes, usually Pentecostal (speak in tongues, lay on of hands), baptize only in the name of Jesus, and do not believe in the trinity.
But as the word apostolic is used by more than one group, and there is some variation even within the Apostolic church, this may not apply to ALL Apostolic churches.

No it refers to the term in the creeds "The one holy Christian and apostolic Church". Apostolic means Church that was founded by the apostles, because the apostles helped to start the Church, at the church in Antioch is where the name Christian was first started.
All who belong to the one true Christian Church, uphold the teachings of the Apostles. If you don't then you are probably Gnostic which believe in texts written after the first century AD.

I used to be a member of the Greater First Apostolic Church of a good sized city.
Apostolic means that you take you follow the doctrine taught by the Apostles.
Teach mainly:
That in order to be born again and be saved you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, recieve the Holy Spirit with the evidence of Speaking in tongues.
They also do not beleive in the trinity, but are Modalists, beleiveing that Jesus is the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. They are NOT Patripassian!
Most churches follow strict 'holiness' standards that include women not cutting hair, wearing skirts, no television, etc.
Apostolics are also known as "Oneness Pentecostals" and the largest denomination of these is the United Pentecostal Church.

Apostolic means to conform to the teaching and experience of the Apostles of Jesus. Anything else is not Biblical. Refer to Acts 2:38. This was the message of the Apostles. How can anyone say it is not for us today?

Apostolic, coming from the word Apostle.
I doubt very much that these people really know what that means.
It was the title given to Jesus' twelve disciples after he ordained them.
Some of these men died or aposticized (as in the case of Judas Iscariot) and were subsiquently replaced with others who were worthy of this ordination.
These men specifically had power given them to administer the Gospel of Jesus Christ(Baptism, ordination to the Priesthood, etc..), they had a right to receive revelation from God for the whole church(I am not talking about the catholic church, which was established by emperor Constantine, I am talking about the church that was originally organized by Christ himself), and most importantly they were to bear witness of the life and ministry and of the divine sonship of Jesus Christ and the Atonement he wrought for all mankind that all might be brought to salvation and be brought back into the presence of God to be judged by God.
The title of Apostle is of deep and serious import and should never be treated lightly
