I think it's pretty normal for people to assume that their world is what the whole world is like. In my experience, many Americans take that to a whole new level.
By the way, I'm from Canada.

Many of us that live here in the US do understand such things... "we GET it". ;)
Unfortunately though it seems that the majority do not or can not. Its not strickly a problem only with that topic or the fact that many people from outside the US on this site sometimes have a difficult time with spelling, grammer etc. and then get "slammed" for it.
Perhaps because many people simply don't have a clue? or maybe its a matter of not having very much patience? or an overall understanding about anything?
Its simply part of the "ME"/"NOW"/"HURRY UP"/"THROW AWAY" culture/society which is currently in place. I'm not saying its right, that's just the way it is. Hopefully that and many other things will improve.

300 million are in the USA - I understand that this is an international forum.
How many of the 6.5 billion do you think are on here. This is primarily an English language area here, think you Brits ,Aussies , Canucks and such outnumber us? We'll even give you the 2 Indian guys who can make themselves understood. As Emjay suggests - scroll down click on a flag - something other than the stars and stripes if you don't like it here.

Although a worldwide program, Yahoo is a US company, you know. It's natural that it would be promoted more here and that there would be more of us. Also, since the only language that's allowed to be used is English, that limits some of the countries we expect to see people from. If you're speaking perfect English on Yahoo Worldwide, that does limit the number of countries that you are probably from (not even my French professors here at University speak PERFECT English).

I don't people who think that but maybe if they do it's because they are on the United States page. It seems natural to assume that if you are on that page then most people are from the US. Why are you so obsessed? If you want a question from someone specific to your area then put that in the question.
BTW, there are 300 million people living in America. Not quite sure what percentage that is of 6.5 million...

Maybe, because at the bottom we can select which area we want questions from. Most of the Americans are on the American yahoo answers and if people from other areas want to join in, than the can. It is like if I log onto the UK answers and try to answer the political questions on that site that pertain to the UK.

OK... What is your question? Once Americans understand that Yahoo! Answers is worldwide, what is the next revelation? I consider myself American and I always thought that anything accessible via the Internet is worldwide... And Then What?

Many people have not been on the net long enough to quite grasp the full extent of the internet, but it does not take them long to work it out.The real problem is that the American part of the internet usually has all the best sites. Thats why I am here.

Because some Americans don't think about what they're saying, believe America is the center of the world, etc. But not all Americans are clueless.
