Arrogant? You bet. Typical, not necessarily. I think it is a combination of both arrogance and ignorance of the sayer, but I doubt it is a typical feeling amongst Christians. I have had quite a few Christian friends throughout the years, and this was in no way a typical sentiment amongst them. What I can tell you is they all felt since I didn't share their beliefs, they all felt sorry for me as I would not be saved. That, my fellow Yahoo hooligans, is typical.

very much so..and it is very typical from a christian to feel that way. if you are not a member of THEIR society then you are a sinner. I hate to say this but it's very true, i'm a carpenter and i have worked on and in many churches the last 20 years or so and found that the worst people to work for are the christain's. They treat you like crap and will talk behind your back if you are not in their congrigation. And i've been lower to their standards just because of what i do for a living, funny tho, wasn't jesus a carpenter (and with hippie like long hair) so whatever..

Does this assume that Christians do know good?
"Christians do no good" seems a lot closer to the truth.
It is the exact kind of arrogance that causes war, murder, oppression - self justifying bigotry by those who are themselves the best proof of the evil of mankind's nature that they claim. (Muslims and others are no better.)

grrrrrr. everytime i read a statement like this my blood pressure gets a little higher. i find it incredibly arrogant as i myself am an aethist and have always been known to be mild mannered and polite. i bet this came from some pompous old religious nutcase full of God-lust and maniacal zeal. ohhhhhh... now i'm cross. but still very well behaved nonetheless.
have a fab day xxx

I am a Christian, and in order to be one you have to accept Jesus as your savior and confess your sins to Him and ask Him for His forgivness, and repent of your sins. Than you are born again and a Christian, with a place for you in heaven. Good behavior will not get you saved or a place in heaven. Only acceptance of Jesus will.

a little bit because it is made out to look badly upon non-christians.. whoever said it should take a look at themselves... there are some non-christians who behave well and they don't think they need God because they have behaved so well and not had so many problems in life... non-christians and christians sometimes behave badly.. the christians just ask for forgiveness whereas the non-christians don't

I do find it horribly arrogant, this is something that is atypical of Christians, who feel it's their duty to "help those who have fallen". Myself I'm just fine where I am. I know I'm very polite, kind and caring, I'm just not tolerant of those who feel the need to "save" everyone.

It is not a true statement. Some non believers know better they have just made the decision not to do better at this time.

Definately. But then I expect such behavior from people who rationalize bad behavior by saying "God forgives me". Why not just behave better and then you don't have to worry about forgiveness as much.
