No icecream machine is needed for this recipe! My sister just gave me this recipe and she says it is excellent! (I haven't had it yet...)

2 cups blueberries or 10 ounces unsweetened frozen blueberries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 cups heavy cream

combine blueberries, sugar and water and simmer for 10 minutes.
soak gelatin in lemon juice.
chill until slightly thickened.
whip cream until peaks form.
fold in blueberries.
cover and freeze 3 hours.

quick and easy for 1 portion. prep time is a guesstimate, it depends on too many factors

1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons rock salt
ice

put milk, sugar, vanilla in pint or quart
sized ziplock bag and seal well.
fill a gallon sized ziplock bag with ice and
add the 8 tbsp rocksalt.
add the small milk-ziplock bag.
seal well and squish.

If you don't have an ice cream machine, here is a link to a recipe by George Duran to make ice cream at home, with no special equipment:
