If you are constantly having to ask yourself whether or not you like him as a friend soley, or enough to be your boyfriend, I am afraid the answer is obvious, he's your friend. The only thing you really can do is give him the respect he deserves and let him down very gently and in person, all that over the phone stuff is so faux pas, and will eventually make him resent the situation. I mean think about it, how would you want to be handled in the adverse situation, the golden rule still applies, treat him as nicely and kindly as you would like to be treated in the same situation.
If you really like his friend or was it your best friends b/f, then perhaps (like teenage love usually does), they'll break up soon, and then and only then should you try and hook him.
You seem like a really great girl for asking this question. I know a lot of people laugh when teens ask for love advice, I don't, because it shows that they are evry warm people who really have a compassionate side, and don't want to hurt the other party. Besides, how do people learn? They ask questions,...lol

Coming from a man like I am, you should tell him now instead of leading him on because if he found out that you was leading him on then he would no longer want to be your friend. Make sure that you are calm about the whole matter and make sure that he is also calm. You need to talk to him asap and stop leading his feelings because I have been there where he is and I feel his PAIN. That is the worst hurt in the whole world that leads to depression as well as lack of confidence. Do all of us a favor and be a true woman about it and tell him but most importantly show him that you still care. The End or is it?

He's using you as rebound...dont let him do that...he could just be saying that and once he gets over her he'll move on to another girl and get over you...and your bestfriend doesnt really seem like a good best friend if she's dating the guys you like and your boyfriend.....

You said it all he dumped you for another girl which tells you he really doesn't have your best insterest at heart.I would tell him to get lost and leave you alone. He's done enough damage to you why set yourself again when the next pretty thing catches his eyes it's bye bye all over.. Lose him

If you don't want him as a boyfriend then let him know, don't mess him around.
It doesn't matter how much he says he likes you, you don't have to go out with him out of gratitude and you will only hurt his feelings in the long run.

Best thing to do is be honest. Tell him you don't think that you are right as a couple. That you don't feel the same about him and he does you. Tell him you are better off as friends, less stress more fun.

explain to him you guys aren't meant for each other.And break up.You might feel guilt for a few days but you cant go out with someone you don't love.Do whats right and do what will make you happy.Your boyfriend will eventually go on with his life.
