My favorite is cheesecake, but since you mentioned that already I'll give a few other suggestions. If you don't have much around the house, and easy one is graham crackers and peanut butter. Supreme! Also, on a healthier note, if you take an apple and cut it up, it's delicious with crunchy peanut butter. Maybe that's just my tastes, but I figured I'd put in my two cents anyways.

I agree with the Frankenstein lookalike - Creme Brulee. This can always be amended to have seasonal fruit (at bottom of the pot) for variety.
My general rule of thumb for dessert is to be guided by the earlier courses, e.g. a dairy rich main course should be followed by something lighter, spicy food should end with a cool dessert etc.

Baily's cheese cake, home made stuff, not out of the packet.
Int the summer strawberries and cream.
BUT it really does depend on what you have had before, a menu has to have complementary sweets to the rest of the meal else flavors etc clash.

If you've had an vegetarian meal then I would prefer to sweet natural fruits watermelon, cantaloupes, fresh strawberries with slices of banana and pieces of tangerines together and sugar-free whipped cream to top it off.
