i have a beautiful friend who is 16 and shes turning 17 soon in september and shes madly in love with this 24 year old young man
and i think its disgusting but anyways i know in almost every state in america its ILLEGAL for him to go out wit her or have an affair
hed go to jail....but he said that he knows what hes doing and that its LEGAL in maryland (where she lives) to go out with him
is it true? that at the age of 16 in maryland your legal? or should i cut off her relationship with him

My cousin is 17, and she is dating a 26 year year old.They are totally in love, and cute together! I don't think that is too bad of an age difference. I dated a 28 year old when I was 18. As long as they love each other and are happy, I wouldn't worry about the age difference. Men don't mature as fast as women anyways, so they might be on the same level.

Don't let any of them slow people put any garbage in your head, but in all 52, yes 52 states it is illegal for adults to date minors. You will be known as a young adult when you turn 18 years of age. So it will still be frowned upon when she is 18, so whatever that man is trying to explain to you is a lie. And I guarantee that he will not make his love public until she is old enough. And I'm a little skeptical about his love because, c'mon we are talking about a grown man. But do all you can to convince her that it is not right, she could find love in her own generation. But if she doesn't listen, then I'm sorry because it is nothing you can do.

I live in Maryland and as far as i know its illegal for a 16 year old and a 24 year old. Its statutory rape if they have sex
sorry I stand corrected 16 IS the age of consent in Maryland but it is still sick for a 24 year old man to want a 16 year old girl as far as I'm concerned . Smack him upside the head!

No. It is illegal in every state. If the girl was 17 and the guy was 19 it would be okay, but their is only a 2 year leeway. Either way it is disgusting and sick. Any guy that old who wants to be with a kid needs serious mental help. Please kick him in the nuts for me.

You'd better not "cut off" HER relationship because it is absolutely not your business at all as to who she dates. It IS legal, check the law. 24 years old is not a geezer.

it doesn't matter whether its legal or not, what could a 24 year old do for a 17 year old girl except get her in alot of trouble, legal or not she isn't an adult yet, cut it off.

it is legal for them to be datin/ have sex..check out the site below...but she can not run away or live/ marry him till she is 18..plus sheis almost an adult ...just warn her
