The Supreme Court of Canada found that downloading is 100% legal because it is the uploader who is breaking copyright. We also have the music artists lobbying our government *against* their own labels fighting any change to that because they would rather lose a little bit on the record sales and make huge gains in concerts and merchandising (on which Americans bands are getting screwed these days). It has nothing to do with morality; it about forcing a new economic model on the industry that is consumer driven instead of corporate-profit driven. It just seems you Americans are living in the stone age is all. ;P

That's because it's illegal. I like to support the artists that I like so that they can further their career. I wouldn't want to steal their music that they've put time and effort into.
Also, on filesharing systems the quality of each song is oftentimes compromised because it's copied or shared (Notice that sometimes a song skips, or is corrupted).
Please support your favorite artists and download legally.
See why you should get music legally here: http://www.whatsthedownload.com/whats_the_controversy/index.aspx
There are legal ways of getting music that don't cost a lot either. I subscribe to Yahoo Music Unlimited and it's awesome (it only costs about $5/month)! I have access to probably a million legal, great quality music. Check that out, along with the website above.

Because on Limewire, there are 'dummy' files placed there by people who want to stop music pirating. You can't download them because their corrupt. They usually include 'Mp3, Avi, Mpg' with the first letter capital. And on Limewire sometimes its hard to find a good quality song. Sometimes they say their 320kb/s (which would sound CD quality) but It sounds like crap. iTunes has all their songs in highest quality.

Some people actually still care about doing the moral thing. While a lot of artists and record company executives are overpaid, they still perform their job and should be paid for it. When people steal music (and yes, it is stealing)from free sources, they are losing money. As this trend goes on, music will die out in variety because labels will lack the money to take on new talent. I'm proud to do things the right way and PAY for my music.
