Since there is very little agreement about what the term "sexual orientation" means, the question can be answered many different ways.

Some people claim that it is ridiculous to act as if there are two sexual orientations. Most of us would agree from our experience that there is a continuum with one end being pure homo-sexual, a person who has never had and never will have even a single sexual urge towards any person of the opposite sec and the other end being completely hetero with never a single urge of any kind for the same sex. There are people who fall all along the continuum and people move up and down the continuum during their lives.

It doesn't take "brainwashing" for someone to slide one way or the other.

In the end, urges are mostly irrelevant. Everybody has inappropriate urges (your neighbor's wife is sure hot). It is actions that matter.

If you define sexual orientation by how someone acts, regardless of urges, then again, many people have changed their orientation for a variety of reasons and under a variety of stimuli.

Yeah. We get brainwashed all the time anyway so don't see why sexual orientation is any different. We get preached to by the media magazines, telly you name it. Even our so called friends and family do it.

You just have to be exposed long enough and pressure quite a lot to succumb. Some give b4 others definitely.

Sad to say but yes I think some poor souls have been brainwashed into believing that they can change the way God created them. It must be torture to have to live this way. I pray that as time goes by that we become a more educated society and focus on the real problems in the world.

Dont think you can unless they have doubts of there own, i think if a person feels a certain way its in there heart not there head so to me brainwashing someone might change what they think, but cant change how they feel, thats my thoughts anyway.

Your asking whether the brain can over rule your body genetics in my opinion. I would say it's a moot point because brainwashing would be a cure worse than the disease.

youare what you are, anyone trying to change you makes you unhappy like the christains who try and brainwash gays... they end up a right mess.

According to Kinsey and Masters & Johnson, no.
What might happen is, a person may openly act as a heterosexual while having bisexual tendencies or actually be homosexual and act as a heterosexual or bisexual.
And, a person's sexuality cannot be altered, what you are is what you will always be.
