I have had her for over 8 years and she has never done this with me. She gets down real low and starts this shaking and clucking thing when my fiance is rubbing her under her wings. What is that? Is it like a mating thing?

She really likes him! My maximillion pionus female and indian ringneck femeale behave the same way when their favorite people come around. Don't be surprised if she nips him, though, it goes along with the courting rituals.

Your little triton is finally growing up!! and she's chosen your fiance as her chosen mate.

The posture that she's put herself in is very much a mating thing. Rubbing on or under her wings, her tummy, her chest, her rump all will trigger sexual stimulations. It is a bad idea to touch her there when she's hormonal as you don't want to encourage her as she'll be expecting the mating behaviour from your fiance. Try not to pet her under her wings, especially the body area under her wings as much as possible, and slowly wean her off it. As you dont need a sexually frustrated and confused and annoyed cockatoo at your hand. This may cause behavioural problems such as plucking and even up to a point of mutilating herself as she can't understand why she's not receiving what she wants.

Her hormones may last for up till 6 months, and in betweent hen, she may get cranky at you, so be careful with her nips. Good luck with your baby.

She is doing 'the mating dance' with him. The panting is a sure sign she's truly female, if you weren't sure before. The ovaries and testes of birds are located close to the back, under the wings. Petting under the wings sexually stimulates birds, and you shouldn't do it! It can cause sexual agressive behaviours, most likely directed at you, because she may come to see you as a rival for his attentions! The last thing you or your boyfriend needs, is to be chomped by a citron crested cockatoo!

Could be a pheromone thing, or a sensitive spot. It could be something your vet needs to look at. Check for bumps and sores before running to a vet. See if this clucking happens with other people. If it doesn't, your birds got a thing for your boyfriend. Your fiance must be good with his fingers, LOL.

Ha ha, you have lost a fiance, your bird is flirting with him and she has chosen him to be her mate. She is becoming mature and will soon start laying eggs. My amazon does this usually in July and Aug. I just love her and she soon gets over it. She may become agressive toward you. So be careful. Only when your boyfriend is around. Good luck.

Hey my guinea pig squeals like the sky is falling when I feed her so don't complain(though I think it's cute that he does that).
