Depends on what chemo drugs you were given. Some people have little or no long term side effects. I did 3 rounds of Adriomycin & Cytoxtin and 3 rounds of Taxotere, followed by 30 days of radiation. That was 2 years ago. I have had no long term side effects that hamper me from living a full life.

My cousin's daughter had kidney cancer when she was very young and went through chemo and radiation. They weren't sure if she would ever have children.....good news is she is expecting her first child in December!

Hope that all goes well for you and that you have a wonderful family and friends who support you through this phase of your life!

my mother got cancer in 2002, and went thru several intense months of chemo. Some of the side effects that she has had to deal with is loss of bladder, short term memory loss, depression, weight gain (which in her case was a good thing), and sleep loss. She has been cancer free now for two years, and she says that the side effects she can live with, but the cancer she couldn't. Thank God for the chemo.

the effects are different with different people. i had 5chemo and 33 radition treatments for breast cancer eight years ago. i had stomach problems before cancer but got worse after. also the radition left a scar on my lung. even though my life has changed since cancer i am really blessed to be here. if i didn't take the treatments i would have missed the birth of my first grandchild. that makes the problems seem real small.

Prone to get sicker easier.. Chance of not having kids. And others...

Once chemo and radiation are done you just have to hope the cancer stays gone. Pray. Prayer works and it saved my brothers life. He caught pnemonia and the docs said he was going to die. His lungs collapst and he was on oxygen. Me and my mom went to chapel and prayed. He proved them all wrong. Miracles do happen.
