This is what my parents told me, because I already had an electric guitar. Why would a parent do that to a child?

Even if I paid for it they would not allow it in their house. I am a good musician who plays it well.

We lived in a 2 story house in the country, where neighbors can't hear it, and there are a lot of different rooms to play it in, that wouldn't bother them.

That doesnt make much sense. if anything, it seems the acoustic would be allowed and not the electric. Wierd. You should talk to them and ask them why you can have an acoustic, because it doesnt make sense to you or me (and most likely anyone else)

They are really sick of the noise, kid, and so are the neighbors. Get yourself a job so that you can rent yourself a storage locker and play there. Personally if you were my neighbor and you were practicing in your garage, if the ENTIRE surfaces were not covered with 3 sets of matresses, I"d call the police.

Probably because the playing gives them a headache. But, I think I would pay someone to give you lesson and then sit back and listen as you got better.

Were you asking for them to pay for it or give it to you as a present? If so, they may not want to fork out the cash for a decent guitar. Try offering to pay for it yourself. If your not willing to pay for it yourself, then you don't want it enough.

Otherwise, its just weird. Acoustic guitars sound alot better than electrics...

I thought it would be the other way around. It doesn't really make sense, an electric is 300 times more noisy than an acoustic.

if they didnt have any lessons, they probably dont want to hear that crap. i mean who wants to? maybe they can send him to get some lessons, and learn how to play...then maybe they will allow it. or maybe they are afraid he will turn into a tree hugginh hippie.

well do you use the electric guitar?
If you don't that could be the reason, why buy another if you don't use one.or maybe they just don't have the money to buy it for you right now.save your money and get it one yourself.
