If Bastrop has a humane society/shelter, check with them. As silly as it sounds to some, it is usually a great idea.

Watch the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic Channel. It gives really good advice and teaches you about dog psychology and rules of the pack. Which is what you, your family are to the puppy. Highly recommended if you want a well behaved dog. Good luck

Check out Petsmart and Petco...they both offer training classes in-store and at several times so you can pick one that's convenient for you. You may want to speak with the teacher beforehand though, and make sure he/she's not an idiot like some of them are and you won't be wasting your money.
