They don't make a "condom", but they do make something similar. It's an oval shaped object that is inserted into the vagina.

Yes there is such a thing as the female condom. They make it for the same reason they make guys' condoms: to prevent STD transfer and pregnancy. There became a market for it in the 90's with the realization that many young women get infected with STD's without symptoms and suffer from this later in life, and therefore "I don't have one with me" no longer was a suitable excuse for a guy. Now the woman can take responsibility, too. However, they're hard to use, more expensive, and less available than the traditional condom.

There have been female condoms made and used. They look something like male condoms but designed for insertion into the vagina.

why?
Somebody made them because they thought someone would buy them.

why did they buy them?
many reasons, but some of them probably had to do with men who would not put on a condom so the woman did

I'm happy to report that YES they do have a female condom. They make them for the same reason they make other forms of condom, protection agaist pregnancy, STD's & HIV etc. We all know that there are some guys out there who don't like to use/wear condoms because "they don't feel as good" ~ this gives women away to protect themselve without hearing those types excuses.

Yes they did but I haven't seen them sold for years. It was like a mini trashbag lol with a ring so it wouldn't get disloged. I think it was just an alternative to the male condom. I actually used one once. The sensation was decreased and it would displace easily. Not very practical! I wish I had one now for show and tell! Have a great day.

They are going to make condoms for women too that they would have to wear inside the vagina to protect them from unwanted conception and stds. These would be somewhat like diaphragms.
