Victor Ostrovsky was an Israeli Intelligence MOSSAD Officer!


Mr. Ostrovsky's most sensational charge is that Mossad, having learned from an informant in Beirut in 1983 that a Mercedes truck was being prepared to hold bombs, guessed that the target might be an American installation there but never gave this information to the United States. He alleges, Nahum Admoni, the Mossad chief, decided to not pass along any warning that someone might be planning an operation against the Americans. On Oct. 23, a yellow Mercedes truck crashed through the flimsy barriers of the United States compound and blew up a barracks, killing 241 United States Marines.

A second allegation that has made headlines is Mr. Ostrovsky's charge that Israel has a spy network in the United States known as ''Al.''
Both countries know that Israel has spied on the United States for years and continues to do so.



A secret C.I.A. report dated March 1979 (made public by Iran when militants seized the American Embassy there) says that Israel has used bugs, wiretaps and attempted blackmail and bribes to gather intelligence in this country.

Amiram Nir, an Israeli official deeply involved in the Iran-contra scandal, was reported killed in a plane crash in Mexico in 1988. We are reminded by the authors that ''one unnamed intelligence official was quoted in the Toronto Star as saying that he did not believe Nir was dead. Rather, he said that Nir had likely got his face surgically altered in Geneva, 'where the clinics are very good, very private, and very discreet.' '' It is ''highly likely,'' the authors claim, that Prime Minister Shimon Peres faked Nir's death as a favor to President Ronald Reagan, so that Nir would not have to testify about Iran-contra.

Mr. Ostrovsky has expressed fear for his safety and says he was threatened by Mossad. For a while, he was in hiding. And that isn't just hype. Mordecai Vanunu, who sold secrets of Israel's nuclear weapons plant at Dimona to The Sunday Times of London, was rewarded for his literary efforts by being kidnapped by Mossad and returned to Israel, where he now is serving an 18-year prison sentence.

Israelis Detained on Sept. 11 Spies

Millions saw the horrific images of the World Trade Center attacks, and those who saw them won't forget them. But a New Jersey homemaker saw something that morning that prompted an investigation into five young Israelis and their connection to Israeli intelligence.
She grabbed her binoculars and watched the destruction unfolding in lower Manhattan. But as she watched the disaster, something else caught her eye.
Maria says she saw three young men kneeling on the roof of a white van in the parking lot of her apartment building. "They seemed to be taking a movie," Maria said.

The men were taking video or photos of themselves with the World Trade Center burning in the background, she said. What struck Maria were the expressions on the men's faces. "They were like happy, you know … They didn't look shocked to me. I thought it was very strange," she said.
She found the behavior so suspicious that she wrote down the license plate number of the van and called the police. Before long, the FBI was also on the scene, and a statewide bulletin was issued on the van.
The plate number was traced to a van owned by a company called Urban Moving. Around 4 p.m. on Sept. 11, the van was spotted on a service road off Route 3, near New Jersey's Giants Stadium. A police officer pulled the van over, finding five men, between 22 and 27 years old, in the vehicle. The men were taken out of the van at gunpoint and handcuffed by police.

The arresting officers said they saw a lot that aroused their suspicion about the men. One of the passengers had $4,700 in cash hidden in his sock. Another was carrying two foreign passports. A box cutter was found in the van. But perhaps the biggest surprise for the officers came when the five men identified themselves as Israeli citizens.
‘We Are Not Your Problem’
According to the police report, one of the passengers told the officers they had been on the West Side Highway in Manhattan "during the incident" - referring to the World Trade Center attack. The driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, told the officers, "We are Israeli. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are the problem." The other passengers were his brother Paul Kurzberg, Yaron Shmuel, Oded Ellner and Omer Marmari.

When the men were transferred to jail, the case was transferred out of the FBI's Criminal Division, and into the bureau's Foreign Counterintelligence Section, which is responsible for espionage cases, ABCNEWS has learned.
One reason for the shift, sources told ABCNEWS, was that the FBI believed Urban Moving may have been providing cover for an Israeli intelligence operation.
After the five men were arrested, the FBI got a warrant and searched Urban Moving's Weehawken, N.J., offices.
The FBI searched Urban Moving's offices for several hours, removing boxes of documents and a dozen computer hard drives. The FBI also questioned Urban Moving's owner. His attorney insists that his client answered all of the FBI's questions. But when FBI agents tried to interview him again a few days later, he was gone.

Three months later 2020's cameras photographed the inside of Urban Moving, and it looked as if the business had been shut down in a big hurry. Cell phones were lying around; office phones were still connected; and the property of dozens of clients remained in the warehouse.
The owner had also cleared out of his New Jersey home, put it up for sale and returned with his family to Israel.
"You got a group of guys that are taking pictures, on top of a roof, of the World Trade Center. They're speaking in a foreign language. They got two passports on 'em. One's got a wad of cash on him, and they got box cutters. Now that's a scary situation."

For the FBI, deciphering the truth from the five Israelis proved to be difficult. One of them, Paul Kurzberg, refused to take a lie-detector test for 10 weeks - then failed it, according to his lawyer.

According to ABCNEWS sources, Israeli and U.S. government officials worked out a deal - and after 71 days, the five Israelis were taken out of jail, put on a plane, and deported back home.

The result of a one-year investigation by editors J. Michael Waller and Paul M. Rodriguez into reports that the FBI was probing allegations that the government of Israel had penetrated four White House telephone lines and was able to relay real-time conversations on those lines from a remote site outside the White House directly to Israel for listening and recording.
The article also charged that the FBI was investigating whether similar penetrations had been made into State Department lines, possibly Pentagon lines and, most interesting, into unlisted, secret lines used by the FBI in its counterintelligence work, including its probe into the Israeli penetration already being investigated. The two reporters said the FBI investigation had been launched in late 1996 or early 1997 when a local telephone company manager became suspicious of an Israeli employee of Amdocs, an Israeli company that sells billing software to telephone companies.

The American telephone manager’s suspicions came to the attention of the CIA, the reporters said, which turned the matter over to the FBI. The Israeli worked as a subcontractor on a telephone-billing program being developed for the CIA, and was married to an Israeli woman employed in the Israeli Embassy in Washington. In a search of the husband’s workplace, the FBI found “a list of the FBI’s most sensitive telephone numbers, including the Bureau’s ‘black’ lines that FBI counterintelligence used to keep track of the suspected Israel spy operation,” the reporters noted. They reported also that husband-and-wife assignments are common in the Mossad.

In January, 2001, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Security Programs (IS), began to receive reports of Israeli art students attempting to penetrate several DEA Field Offices in the continental United States. Additionally, there have been reports of Israeli art students visiting the homes of numerous DEA employees. These incidents have occurred since at least the beginning of 2000, and have continued to the present. The number of reported incidents increased in November/December 2000, and has continued to date. These incidents have involved several other law enforcement and Department of Defense agencies, with contacts made at other agencies' facilities and the residences of their employees. Geographically, these incidents are very widespread, ranging from California to Florida. The majority of the incidents have occurred in the southern half of the continental U.S. with the most activity reported in the state of Florida.

Since April 2001, the number of reported incidents has declined, however, the geographic spread of the incidents has increased to Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Los Angeles.
The activities of these Israeli art students raised the suspicion of IS and other field offices when attempts were made to circumvent the access control systems at DEA offices, and when these individuals began to solicit their paintings at the homes of DEA employees. The nature of the individuals' conduct, combined with intelligence information and historical information regarding past incidents involving Israeli Organized Crime, leads IS to believe the incidents may well be an organized intelligence gathering activity. It is believed by IS that these incidents should not be the basis for any immediate concern for the safety and security of DEA personnel, however, employees should continue to exercise due caution in safeguarding information relating to DEA investigations, or activities.

In October 1993, the CIA, in a four-paragraph assessment provided to the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee in response to written questions on proliferation threats of the 1990s, asserted that Israel has sold China advanced military equipment worth perhaps "several billion dollars" over the past ten years; US intelligence experts are increasingly concerned that China is attempting to use Israel as a conduit for the procurement of denied Western military technology. The assessment states that, "Building on a long history of close defense-industrial relations -- including work on China's next generation fighter, air-to-air missiles and tank programs...China and Israel appear to be moving to formalizing and broadening their military technical cooperation...

Beijing probably hopes to tap Israeli expertise for cooperative development of military technologies, such as advanced tank power plants and airborne radar systems, that the Chinese would have difficulty producing on their own." The agency noted that _China_ and _Israel_ recently signed cooperation agreements to share technology in a number of areas, among them space and electronics.

As per a defense deal between Israel and China, Israel is to sell an advanced Phalcon advance early warning radar (AWACS) system produced by Elta, a subsidiary of state-owned Israel Aircraft Industries. The system is to be mounted on top of a Russian Ilyushin IL76 transport aircraft. The deal, reportedly worth $250 million, may become worth $1 billion if China decides to expand it. Chinese President Jiang Zemin is arriving in Israel on 6 April 2000 during his state visit to Middle East countries. One of the items on the agenda during his visit, the first ever by a Chinese head of state to Israel, will be increasing purchases of Israeli arms by China. One of the AWACS planes has already been delivered and China has the option to buy more.

The US has strongly criticized the sale of the Israeli AWACS, which are reportedly superior to the AWACS that the US deploys in the Taiwan-China area.
