and? If you have no idea's of your own you are doomed as a politician. GET SOME!! Believe in something and either preserve or change to what you envision.

Politics are easy. Start at home. Win the elections in school... They don't have them? Get school to have them.. that's politics.

Get a ball rolling, never mind about what that ball is.

Get the movie: "Primary colors" Watch it a few times and think really hard if that is what you want to become... It is your future.

About money: If you are a good politician money will find you. There are specialists that can bring in the money. They only charge 10 %....

A lot of these answers listed are just hogwash. The simple truth is that you need to get involved. Get involved with something. Anything. The political party you identify with. Community organizations, National organizations, groups that have the same goals as you. Stay committed, that is the most important part.

Some groups off the top of my head are: Greenpeace, Sierra Club, etc. There are more local groups, too.

And NO, you do not have to have money to get into politics. Knowing lots of people and staying involved will get you much further than money can. As far as funding a campaign, yes, money is needed, but as I said, you'll know people, and people help you with fundraising. Fundraising is a HUGE part of campaigning.

I cannot believe the apathy reflected in some of the previous answers.

If you want to make a difference, you need to come up with an idea and throw yourself into it. That's really up to you.

If your interest in politics, think about serving locally to begin with. Local politics isn't glitzy...being a city councilor or school board member is thankless work. More important than money at that level is having a lot of contacts and a lot of drive. There are some great books about running a local campaign...search "local political campaign" ...Have fun.

There are a lot of activist web sites out there. I can recommend you some great ones.

First there are click to donate websites. What it means is that you click on a button, and a corporate sponsor pays a certain amount of money towards the cause advertised on the site. You don't have to pay anything, and it does not take more than a few seconds of your time. You can do this once per day.

I have been doing this for years, and I have saved hundreds of acres of animal habitat. I'm very proud of that.

The first site:
http://www.care2.com

Some of their causes include protecting big cat habitat, conserving rainforest land, literacy, violence against women, and providing vaccinations for children. It's a wonderful site and I highly recommend it. They also have letter writing campaigns that you can take part in, at no cost to you.

Another great site is this:
http://www.therainforestsite.com

It helps to protect rainforest land, and it also has links to other click to donate sites for equally important causes.

The last is this:
http://www.ecologyfund.com

It is another click to donate site that helps to save land across the world, and reduce CO2 in the environment.

All these sites offer other ways to get involved, and to help in your community. These are easy things that anyone can do with little to no effort. You can take it as far as you like, depending on how much of your time and energy you are willing to give.

Good luck.

One way to help the environment is to help clean up the roadsides...many schools volunteer to clean up certain sections of a well traveled road. You could join this group and help them out. If your school doesn't have a group that does this...form one. I am sure your teachers and counselors would be able to help you out. If you are looking to get started during the summer months. check with your local police department or mayor's office. I am sure they will help you get started. As for politics..running for your school or class offices is a good start. In most schools you can run for President, Vice President, Secretary, and/or Treasurer of either the class or the student council.

First, my dear, who should ask yourself, am I dishonest enough to be a politician? Then ask yourself why your self esteem is so low that you need recognition. If you can't help humanity without the recognition then is it humanity or you that is most important? My advice is to be the very best person you can be by becoming a nun.

That's wonderful, my dear! What you can do is contact your congressman, state, or local representative about how to volunteer with them. Also, get involved in local civic organizations. If you want to, go to your state's website and see if you can help out in the state or local parks. Good luck, darling!

Volunteer with a candidate you admire & work your way up campaign. Then when you want to run, they will help you find backers to furnish money. Start with local campaigns & work up to national offices.
