I know of a cat that lived until 27, and that was when the owner's decided it was too much and had it put to sleep so who knows how long she would've kicked around. But yeah, the average is more like 15-17.

Depending on a breed of a cat and how well you look after it, cats can live anywhere between 12 to 45 years without any problems. Just make sure to take a good care of it as it grows older by the means of:
- Giving it good and natural food: dry food can clog the stomach of the cat if given too much of it. Try variations of foods and don't give it to the cat if the food is a little bit too salty. Some breeds can't digest the salty food. Cats love soups (not too hot and not too cold) that have a little bit of everything in it but not too much. I had a cat that was crazy about home-made soups and everything that we were eating (including salads)! Give it dry food from time-to-time but not too often. When giving meat cut into manegable pieces, but don't give the meat to the cat too often in order to keep a healthy dietary balance.
- Make sure to keep the kitty in the warm environment. If it never grew up in the cold, it might have complications if the lifestyle is not agreeable with the cat's health and physical condition. Domestic cats love a warm and cozy place to curl up and sleep in without any worries.
- Take it to the caring and professional vet on regular basis in order to keep on top of the changes and be able to prevent the problems from developing into something more severe.
- Come up with little exercises for the cat to keep it active so that way there won't be any other complications from too much of the "sleepy and restfull" lifestyle.

In my opinion... When the food is right as well as the love and care for the animal, any domesticated creature will live longer and happier lifestyle than those that don't.

The time of life for a cat varies..depends on the health or survival of your cat. Pray that it doesn't get ran over a car, it's the most sorrowful way of death in my opinon, especially if u witness what happened.

In the wild, lions live for around 10–14 years, while in captivity they can live over 20 years.

So cats live until about the same age, but their size shows much harder life with humans...
