Personally, I don't believe in ANYTHING. I believe that when you die you are dead and that is all. Nothing else. You live how you want to and try to raise your kids right and do good things while you're alive. Don't need a book to tell me how I should live... it is common sense. I don't believe in hypocrisy so I don't believe in religion.

I'm agnostic, so I pretty much believe anything is possible. If I had to choose a religion, it would be Pagan. From what I've read on Paganism, it just seems to be the logical choice. A lot of it deals with nature and it's beauty. Things you can see, taste, touch, smell and hear. I've never met a Pagan who tried to tell me how I should live, or what I should believe.
Personally, I believe that as long as you're an upstanding citizen who is kind to others and kind to nature, you're A-OK.

Logically, I can't believe in an all-powerful, all-knowing God. It just doesn't make sense.
Can God create a rock that even he can't destroy? Circular reasoning would rationalize that in any case, there is SOMETHING God would not be able to do: create the indestructible rock or destroy the indestructible rock. Therefore, God is not all-powerful.
God cannot be all knowing because of the doctrine of free will. If God gave us free will, then we are free to choose. But if God is all-knowing, he would already know what we are going to do. Therefore, free will doesn't exist.
Some may say that logic was created by God, therefore it doesn't apply to Him. I say, what a way to get out of the argument.
And one last thing - if there is a God, he is not benevolent. A truly moral God would not allow any of his "children" to suffer. So if there is a God out there, he is not a God to be worshipped.
Anyway, I have been accused of not being a good person, of not being moral and ethical. The fact of the matter is, I don't need a book of half-truths written thousands of years ago to tell me how to be nice to other people. I am a good person, and I don't need any God to vindicate my actions.
I also want to acknowledge that religion can be a good thing for some people. It may give them hope in times of need or it may prevent people from doing things if they were not religious. It's just not for me.

Atheism is not a belief, it's a way of looking at the world with a clear rational point of view.
An Atheist dosn't believe in one thing or another, they know how the world works based on what they can observe in the universe and through scientific testing.
People of faith on the other hand believe what they do because that is what their parents taught them to believe, what their teachers taught them to believe, and what peer pressure around them pushes them into believeing in order to be accepted.
Anyone who gets a real education, studies science with an open mind, and questions everything that is put before them, and is willing to be fearless enough to state the truth as they see it will be an atheist.

I agree with some of the others on here what an actual atheist is but for a better understanding of where I'm coming from refer to your question:
To all athiest:Do any of you actually believe in a God and just choose not to worship him?
There you will find what I'm really all about.

Some atheists don't believe in god as he/she/it is described by any religion; this is sometimes called "weak atheism." Others (and I'm one) are convinced that there is no such thing as god or gods; this is called "strong atheism." There's no evidence that such a being exists, and there's no reason to suspect that evidence may exist which has yet to be discovered.
Current estimates suggest there are about 30 million atheists in the United States.

Atheist believe that there is no God. but i am awalys curious, when they are in trouble who do they call upon "oh darwin help us?" or "Please the facts of Science be on our side?" or "Please the man made, (stupid, useless) theories help us"
I mean since they don't believe in God, who do they call upon in times of hardship?
Plus, they beleive that God didn't create the world in 7days, It was the "BIG BANG" that originated universe. what was in this universe before the "BIG BANG"? and if there was indeed anything, where did it come from? the bottom line is, no matter how much atheist deny the existance of GOD, at the end they would have to admit that there is a devine power.
Since they cannot prove that GOD does not exists, why shall even bother that GOD does exists?

My husband was Athiest. I was a back sliding believer. A pastor once asked us to back up are beliefs. We had no source for why we were against God. And yet he could back up his belief and show us the error of our ways.
