I believe the poison ivy actuall has to touch your skin for you to get a rash. Make sure you take the pants off without touching the bottom part and wash them.

You only get poison ivy if the oils from the leaves of the plant touch your skin. If they just touched your pant leg, it's very unlikely that you will get a rash -- but you should still wash your pants and make sure you wash yourself with soap and water because you may be able to pick it up from touching your pants.

Not likely. The rash and itch from poison ivy comes from an oil the plant(s) produce. The plants you came into contact with would have to have an extreme quantity of the oil. To compare, I was playing manhunt and my bare arm only had a few spots of it before I spread it by scratching.

The outside of the pants has the poison ivy on it. Therefore if you touch the pants, you can get it on your hands. God forbid someone sat on your lap wearing shorts, and also I suppose if you laid the pants on the bed after removing them, could have gotten it on there too....

poison ivy touched your clothes, you need to take them off without touching them, use plastic bags or something if you don't have rubber gloves. the outside of your clothes can still cause you to go break out. trust me, my daughter had poison ivy two months ago, and i had her take off her clothes in the garage cuz they were covered in stickers. i found them last week and after i picked them up to put in the washer, i got poison ivy just by touching them, so be careful. use the plastic bags to take them to the washing machine, touch nothing on the way, and wash them in hot water. then they should be fine.
