1. Some people have found someone that they like spending time with. Others want to have a boyfriend/girlfriend for the sake of having one.
2. Dating sites are to facilitate the face-to-face meeting. The pace of life (in the U.S., anyway) is picking up, so people have less time to meet people, as well as less time to nurture relationships.

Question one: The main point behind boy/girl relations is that the opposite sex has a lot to offer, and people want romance and/or sex in their lives. I get the feeling you are new to the dating thing. Finding an exciting person that turns you on is the best thing in the world, but the road to that can be very hard, and after you find it you most likely will be very happy and very hurt by it also.
Question two: Hooking up online is pretty convenient. It takes time, money and effort to get dressed up, put gas in the car, find a parking spot, wait in line to get into the club, etc. etc. I heard a statistic that one third of couples today met eachother online. So, maybe give it a try and see what you think.

the main point is having one person to spend your time and share your life with and them having only you.
people sign up on those sites to meet people to have face to face hook ups with. other than that its sometimes hard to find places to meet people. lots of folks don't like bars or drinking and don't want to meet someone that does, they just wouldn't be compatible. people won't date co-workers so thats out, and aside from a chance meeting at a grocery store or something where do you meet folks? plus you can be anonymous online until you are ready to meet.

2. becuz i guess site dating is just for fun.. reason, u can see them so u can tell them every thing.. things u dont tell your bestfriends
