Bullmastiffs are notorious for this - they think it's hilarious to knock you on your butt. He can also blow out your knee and put you in the hospital! He obviously has no respect for your authority, since you haven't earned it.

If you don't want to spend any time or money training the dog (which you should have been doing since he was LITTLE!), then carry an open umbrella when you're outside with him. Most dogs won't charge you if you have one!

If you want to train him, find an obedience class or read some great books on training. (Try not to pick books randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also!) These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com

Since you are "letting" the dog knock you down it will. I've had neapolitan mastiffs for years, and they are very, very strong and can be a little too playful. With a breed this big, YOU have to let them know YOU are the BOSS and YOU mean business. You must take control over this dog-not in a mean way, in a mentally controlling way. They can be too big for everyone's good. I know they are lovable with those "feel sorry and feed me faces" but you need to fo it for your sake. And the sake of small children and strangers that may also get "run over" good Luck

otter_woman has given some good information. It is obvious that you need help and it is best that you find a local trainer who can make direct observations of how you relate to your dog. From this he can advise you on how to hqandle the situation.

Otter_ woman is correct, this is a situation of dominance. Your dog knows there must be a leader and is attempting to assume that roll. If you don't learn how to train your dog the situation will only get worse.

This is an easy answer,he does what YOU allow.
Your dog is untrained and thinks he is alpha. The best thing for the both of you is classes so you can learn how to be a dog owner and not someone owned by your dog.
You chose a breed that you knew was independant and needed a strong minded owner it is up to you to train the dog properly.
