Wow if he has a bad back give the poor guy a break. Skip the "carry the bride over the threshold" and make up a new tradition. Maybe, carry a bottle of bubbly over the threshold ;-). You can both enjoy that tradition more.

I have to say, I've given up on the idea of having a man strong enough to carry me over the threshold. It's 2006 honey, the threshold thing is passé! It's like seeing your wife as a possession to add to your home! Walk hand-in-hand through the door TOGETHER. That's a truly modern partnership! Good luck!

Well, not that you NEED to be in one... but you could borrow a wheelchair and have her sit on your lap. You do the wheeling. Technically, you would still be carrying her across the threshold but it shouldn't hurt your back. (And the two of you might actually enjoy a ride with her on your lap...)

I know if I was a bride of a guy with a bad back, I would think it was a cool way of handling the situation.

Man, by the time we had gotten married, we'd been over the threshold so many times already, that we forgot. You know, these modern days, living in sin and all, before the wedding. It is a truly nice thought, though!
I'd say run to get it over quickly or get a nice back brace!

Seems to me your bride would prefer you did not injure your back at the threshold (attempting something you know is bad for you...) but would prefer you entertain that risk only after crossing the threshold---in more husbandly endeavors! ;-)

Good luck.

dont bother! why not have the bride carry YOU over the threshold. it is not worth further damaging your back.

why not just wait until your back is better, i think your bride would feel much better waiting a while that having the possibility of hurting you

you don't really have to do that, it is understandable why it is not possible. just enjoy your day and the true meaning of it all.
