This is my first time trying to get a credit card. I am trying to be as careful as possible because I dont want to ruin my credit at only 19 years old. Im looking for a credit card that I can choose my own design, a low APR, and, no monthly or annual fees. Also I do not want a very large credit limit, 200-500 dollar limit at the most. (perferably a visa) Please let me know if you have any suggestions. It would help me out tremendously. Thank you. -Kristen

For a first time Credit Card I will go with Capital One. You can choose your own design to. They don't have the lowest APR but it's a great credit card to have. In comparision you can try Chase credit cards as well. The have a variety of credit cards that you can choose from. I will definately recommend you going to www.creditcards.com and www.capitalone.com.
Good Luck!!

Design is not important, what is important is to establish good credit. Try your local bank/credit union to see if they offer share secured visa's. They usually offer lower interest rates. These programs vary but are a good source for first time credit. Be sure to get all the details. Keep in mind wherever you get a credit card, late payment fees and over limit fees are high so pay on time and never go over the limit. Good Luck.

DON'T GET A CREDIT CARD!!!!

The only thing a credit card is good for is getting into trouble (and it's very difficult to get out!).

Put money into a savings account and pay cash for the stuff you want. Keep saving and when you go to apply for a home loan (the ONLY thing you should borrow money to buy), if you have over $10,000 in the bank, you can pretty much write your own ticket.

Don't worry about the design if you are taking it out often enough to see the design, you will ruin your credit. In terms of selecting one visit bankrate.com and view there credit card section. They have a took you can input what you'd like to get from a card and they will suggest the one for you. See link below.
