Absolutely, just as they are for driving drunk. The person chose to be inebriated, and is therefore responsible for the condition as well as all of the stupid things they say and do under the influence.

Yes. Most people say what they really think when they are under the influence of alcohol.....just regretting it doesn't mean that you didn't mean it. You can't assign blame for your reckless mouth because of alcohol. If you say "I don't remember" or "I was wasted, I didn't mean it" or things along those lines then what you are really saying is.........I'M A PROBLEM DRINKER WITH A BIG MOUTH. Try drinking a little less of whatever it is that makes you or this person that way.

Pleading the 5th after all is said and done is not viable. You are and could be held to anything said while under the influence. Next time bring a back up friend to stop you and your verbal spillage.

Yes, they should. It'll teach them that they're responsible for their actions. If they're saying things they shouldn't have said when drunk, then maybe they should cut back on the alcohol and learn to drink in moderation.

Not really, but that doesn't make it go away. And we all know that sometimes we say things we've been thinking because we're drunk that might not be said otherwise, judgement call.

I think so, you find that a person under the influence tends to tell you the truth when under any other circumstances they would either lie or not say anything at all.
