$1 a drink bartenders get paid under minimum wage so they depend on their tips.

I usually tip the bar tender a dollar after every third drink I order. I do it to pay tribute so the bartender wont cut me off too soon, because I weigh like 145lbs at 5'7". Sometimes this keeps them feeding me drinks, but it isn't a guarantee that they wont cut me off eventually.

On the first drink tip a dollar, second drink tip a dollar, third drink don't tip him, you will need money for a cab.

I think 15% is fine. if you want special attention though you will want to pay much more.
