My cat shakes her head and her ear makes popping sounds. It seems to bother her and she's been doing it a lot since last night and scratching that ear. The symptoms (besides the popping) seem like mites, but she's been treated for them for last few months. I can't find any info on this symptom anywhere. Help!

Have you been treating the mites recently? Does the sound resemble liquid? Had the same problem with my animals lately, dogs and cats. It appears to be a side-effect of the mites, or, at least....the medicine. Good luck, hope you get it resolved.

That "popping" sound is simply her ear slapping against her head..although there could be reasons(like mites)that she's shaking her head and scratching.

ear infection, see a vet right away, before she bursts the vessles in her ear and the ear flap inflates with blood like a balloon!
infection in the inner or middle ear itches and burns causing the scratching and head shaking
