drinking a lot of water helps.. i don't like chewing gum... though that is commonly said to help. it makes me hungrier. when i diet, i like to keep plain or lightly salted rice cakes around. they have like no calories and they tend to fill you up. (especially if you drink water while eating them) keep busy so you don't have time to think about food. exercise and sleep properly to keep your energy up. make sure your diet includes essential protiens and fats and carbs... not enough is bad for your health too.. and look for low-cal low-fat snacks.. like raw fruit or veggies! and ditto on the eat smaller amounts more frequently...

You will probably get hungry while on a diet. This may be due to your body's adjustment to its caloric intake. For example, if you decrease your calories drastically you may feel hungry. Whether or not this happens, always drink plenty of water and snack on foods rich in fiber and protein. Sometimes dehydration is mistaken for hunger. So load up on water and splurge in the fiber to keep yourself feeling really full.

Aside from drinking water, try eating foods that are low on calorie but very filling. Low calorie soups are a good example although they are quite high on sodium.

Also, try shrinking your stomach by eating 5-6 smaller meals a day rather than three big ones. That will help you from getting hungry all the time.

I have found that staying away from sugar and starches and loading up on fresh veggies, meat and cheese is an excellent way to loose weight and to keep from getting hungary while doing so. I also recommend eating 5 small meals a day instead of 3 large ones.
