His dad happened to hold a high rank in government, and he never saw combat. Would you think lesser of such a person over someone who actually volunteered to go into combat? Would you trust such a person in matters of war?

I would and do trust such a person. The amount of someones patriotism cannot be judged based only from the Vietnam war, if that was the case then I would not have even had the chance to be patriotic to my country.

Patriotism is not a matter of fighting a war that we had nothing to do with. Patriotism is how you would feel and what you would in the protection and sanctity of this country. That's why I don't understand the unpatriotic attitudes people have concerning this war on terror. Terrorism is a real threat to this country and yet all these people are upset that this war is going on. I think, everybody who is not for this country should be made to leave.

Patriotism is not measured by service in combat, or in military service at all. Patriotism is the support of your country and its armed forces. This can be accomplished in any number of ways, not just through military service. As far as trusting this person in matters of war, that would depend on the person. There are alot of people I knew in the military that I would not trust in the matter of war.

It wouldn't bother me. If this is about Pres. Bush everyone needs to stop, remember the democraps supported the war, and when the last vote for a time line to pull out only about 7 democraps voted for it.

If activated the person I am thinking of would have served. The person I am thinking of is very loyal to this country., and has shown a willingness to defend it. The other person I am thinking of shows no willingness to defend our country. And this is happening now, not 35 years ago.

BUSH (and that's who I think you're talking about) is not a true patriot.
I don't trust him as far as I could pick his incompetent *** up and throw him.

whats more pathetic is you, and the people who ran to canada. at least they were willing to fight for your country and i think its a dam disgrace that you said that, that is disrespecting every soldier who ever risked their life to protect our country, they didnt have to fight for you, but they chose to fight for you and our country, you should be glad that someone actually cares about your well being, they risk their lives and you go and say this, your pathetic.
