how many different gods and godesses have people believed in?
why do some people automaticly think that when a question is asked that has the word religion in it, the poster is talking about their paticular faith and not all faiths and beliefs in general?

And it's because way too many people put on blinders when the word religion comes into the conversation.

You're not talking about my particular religion cause mine is imaginary.
But religion is like soup, you can dish it up in as many servings you want to, if you got the cups and bowls -- and since religion flows unceasingly from human heads there is no end to number of servings, and if you're talking about since the beginning of the human race that number would be just about infinite or it might as well be.

Many, many, many!!! People have believed in many different gods and godesses. I was brought up to believe in Christianity. I researched other religions, but I believe what my Bible says. My Bible said that God walked among men before Jesus came to die for all of our sins. God gave us free will, to believe in Him or not. My God is offering eternal life for my soul with Him in Heaven, and I believe it with my whole heart. If you want to worship a chair, worship a chair! But don't blame me when your chair wears out or breaks!!! I opt for eternal life!!!

people have believed in thousands of gods but as we are going to the present, there are few gods because of the absence of animism.
