Unflavored soy milk takes some getting used to. It has a wonderful feel in the mouth that's almost like whipping cream. But its flavor has a nutty aftertaste that you have to get used to.
But the flavored soys are absolutely wonderful (no aftertaste at all). They don't make you all mucousy like regular milk does, and they don't have all the fat and cholesterol. Soy Chai is a perfect example of how well soy milk picks up other flavors and really enhances them. There's no real flavor to soy, so when you mix it with something like Chai, you're getting the true flavors.
BTW, check in the produce section of your favorite major supermarket for a brand of juices called Bolthouse Farms. Their Soy Chai is PHENOMENAL. Just be careful when you heat it. Because the soy is more dense, it will boil more quickly than will regular milk. What's awesome, though, is that whether hot or cold, this brand has a wonderful feel on the palatte and cuts your appetite. That's what makes it the perfect dieters drink.

Regular soy milk tastes different than regular milk. I usually use it on cereal, not just drinking. the chocolate soy milk is better for just drinking.
The other difference is that one comes from an extremely abused, innocent animal, and the other is a nerveless bean. Go VEG!

Try it with milk and find out.
Milk and soy milk alone taste completely different. Hard to explain it. You just have to try it.
