He is 36. And since he told me he has either totally avoided me or has been acting strange. I told him that I loved him too. He suffers from mild depression, I thought that might be a part of it. Why is he doing this?

If you have had sex with him, then you surely know that that was the ONLY reason he told you he loved you----to get your pants off you. But, if you have NOT had sex with him, then maybe he is just afraid of his feelings. How old are YOU? If you are a teenager, then he is afraid of getting in trouble with the law, or your parents, and he SHOULD BE. I don't buy that he is depressed. What would depression have to do with telling someone you love them. He should be HAPPY!!!! Something is fishy about this. You better run!!!!

well sometimes guys find out they care and for some reason they seem to want to back off.. give him time... and then just ask him what he wants to do about your feelings for each other.. he is old enough to make decisions.. and depression is a real bad thing at times and maybe he thinks that he might bring you down or not be able to make you happy ...i am manic depressant and it really does make a difference to guys i have met anyway...you have mood swings and that could be what is going on with your friend.. do not give up on him if you do really care for him... things may not always be a bed of roses but tell him you understand and you want to try to make a goal with your relationship..

Hi he is scared of talking to you because he is having the fear of losing you, he has some how made courage to tell you that he loves you and you also told him that you to love him and now he is not sure how to proceed and girls are good in proceeding further, girls are good in socialisation so you can make it if the love is true

He may be afraid of rejection even though you said it back. He may be thinking you said it back just because he said it to you. He may have low self esteem and be ambarassed. He may not be accustomed to having his feelings out in the open. Give him some time I'm sure he'll come around. :)

Be really nice about it, but ask him what is going on, you should help him out of depression and make him happy, but don't do anything you are uncomfortable with doing.

mayb he's got the wrong impression on u? i mean mayb he thinks that he doesnt deserve you , or that you dont like him...try convincing him more that you love him too , ask him out and yea...treat him as your bf? im sure u noe that guyz canbe sensitive at this too , its like if he got da wrong perception that u actually "rejected" him , he would be too shy to appear in front of u or talk to u. so try to be the one approaching him til he gets used to it and im sure he'll be back to normal. =) good luck! you go gurl!

Confront him and ask him what's going on. He could be bi-polar. Beware. You might be much better off without him. He has serious problems.
