MILES gear is a system of electronic sensors that work with blanks. You fire at someone, and if you "hit" him, his gears picks it up. It's a training device. I hope that's the MILES you're looking for.

IED is improvised explosive device I believe. you know, roadside bombs and such. miles, I would assume you get some frequent flyer miles or something. maybe you get some as a bonus for signing on or something.

S- system
