This sounds very odd, but is an old and good remedy that can be used for many skin problems. It is also very soothing.
Mix douche powder with vaseline. It will make an antibacterial, anti fungal ointment that is safe to use as needed. Fleas hate it too.

Odds are its a fungus infection. Betadyne ointment will generally work with it being applied twice a day over a week. OR>>>>> you are bathing it too much, not providing enough oil in its food or its sunburned, has a flea infestation (and resulting allergy) If fleas ARE a problem, you need to get rid of them, the dog will stop chewing itself and all is well.
My money is on a fungus. Next, dry skin and / or fleas. COULD BE a type of mange too, if THAT is the case, then examine the mouth area lips and noses get infections from gnawing at the itchy spots on other body parts... if this happens its going to get costly to fix.. Now is the time to address this problem with determination.

I have an aging Golden Retriever that started the same problem. I at first spent a lot of money for dog therapies but then found the solution, Omega Shine made for horses. It's is very cheap and my dogs coat is so shiney, silky and beautiful, you wouldn't believe the change. My bother uses it on his show horses that require a beautiful shiney coat. I've also started using their joint relief for horses on my dog and he is getting along fantastic at much less money for a better natural product. All Omega fatty acid and gluosomine products for dogs are very expensive. This is the same thing and actually purer form but cheaper because it is marketed to horse people rather than a family pet owner. They make me up a 20.00 batch of the Joint Relief for my dog because the horse size wouldn't be used fast enough. Check out their website http://www.aminomass.com/equi_omeg.html. $18.95 plus shipping for a gallon that lasts a long time for a dog. You can email or call these folks with questions. Good Luck

Call your Veterinarian and ask for advice this shows that you care about your dog more than your Pocket book and the veterinarian may work with you this is not a problem you should treat on your own. with out a proper diagnosis you could be spending more than you are saving. it could be alergies or other problems you have not yet considered. a Veterinarian is the medical expert trained to work with you and should be used.
If you can not afford the bills for your dog you should consider getting another Job or asking for a raise. I do not believe in getting rid of a pet for finacial reasons.

The vet is the only way to find out what exactly is going on....you can try using benadryl in the meantime if she's really itchy, that should help the itchiness, but it's not going to clear anything up

If you cant afford a Vet then you dont need the damn dog! I am sure there is a vet who will take post dated checks as payments or you can Hock something...It could be as simple as dog lice or a flea allergy...Does she have Fleas???? Perhaps you could pawn your computer and take her to the vet...She could have the beginnings of mange, Allergies, Lice,Anything and is probably very inexpensive to treat...If you dont take her to the vet please take her to a Shelter or Aussie Rescue...Oh Wait.....I bet you were gonna breed her to sell pups huh? UUUGGGGHHH!
