why is America so fat? could it be that some level in our hormones is out of whack? Maybe in the future our systems will tell our bodies to just shed any extra calories we don't need, sort of like extra water soluble vitamins that go right through our bodies. Our bodies just get what it needs and the rest is thrown out....

The problem with America being so "BIG" and fast food is because of a number of factors. greed, convenience, the breakdown of family structure a home(working parents= tv dinners) and geneticly modified foods which are in more than alot of what you eat today. The fat part comes not just from the eating of the fast foods but also from the corn syrup. Surgar was replaced with corn syrup in most things and it makes you fat plus the corn...is probably g.m.o. as well. Ammo

No, it's just that fast food is so convenient and it's everywhere. Just think about it: you don't have to plan the contents of a meal, you don't have to shop, you don't have to carry groceries to and from the car, you don't have to put them away, you don't have to thaw it or cook it or set the table or do the dishes or clean up or carry out the garbage. Go through the drive through, eat, pitch bag in trash--you're done.

It's possible. More likely it's that we've become a gluttonous, lazy nation of people. For the majority of us, everything comes too easy. But your theory is good, the human race evolves and adapts, we are setting ourselves back in our evolution with the types of lifestyles we are living. We could be becoming stronger, leaner, faster humans, instead we are becoming sick, fat and unhealthy.

what's out of whack is that most Americans over eat and so many jobs today require such a small amount of energy to accomplish that we are simply consuming more calories than we are burning!
