Hello..I fully agree with you..I don't think that French language is the most beautiful and romantic. That's some myth, but look into the people's answers so narrow-minded.They stick to the established cliches and that's all. I don't agree with them. I have the vantage point to speak Italian fluently,English,Russian etc and all of the above mentioned languages are not my mother tongues. I behold Slavic languages as very beautiful and moving.."что скажеш?"..First I would like some of them to have good knowledge at those languages and then to state any opinion..Ukrainian,Russian,etc as Slavic languages are must!!

There is something lulling and seductive about the monotone nature of spoken French. Also, the turn of phrase is very poetic sounding. As for Italian, I think it is the passion with which it is spoken. Italians do everything with passion, and that would turn anyone on.
I would not consider German or any Slavic languages pretty, but they can be very seductive as well. They are a little too harsh to be romantic or pretty, but they are intense, and German sounds very commanding.
Greek ended up being a much prettier language than I would have thought. I assumed it would be very gutteral, but it wasn't at all.

And in the film A Fish Called Wanda Jamie Lee Curtis' character gets off on hearing John Cleese burbling in Russian.
They are Romantic languages because they are grounded in Latin (the language of Ancient Rome). As they are fluid and not stuccal they are credited with also being romantic (small r) and this is the etymology of the word romance, meaning love.

If you've ever heard someone speak in those languages, you'd understand. The way the letters roll off of their lips. The way some things are enunciated. The sounding of the words when they talk...there is so much more to be said. The way that most of them talk is super sexy. Let a hot French guy talk to you. You may not have any idea what he's saying, but I bet you'll cling to his each and every word!

Because latin languages are way softer to the ear than the Germanic languages. The other reason might be simple historical ones! Have you ever heard of "l'amour courtois"????
This dates back to the Middle Age and refers to a special kind of loving, like Tristan and Yseult. PLus remember that even Shakespeare used to create characters who were supposedly Italians: Romeo, Juliette, the Merchant of Venice etc....

I personally prefer Slavic languages, because they, like the romance languages you mentioned, sound more musical (to me, anyway). Romance languages have a lovely, musical flow and cadence to them.

Romance languages are always refer as the most beautiful languages. But I think that what really matters is what you say and the way you say it in your language.

French and Italian and most Romance languages (based on Latin) tend to be soft, meaning they don't use hard consonants that much. their words tend to be vowel heavy and smooth in intonation, thus they sound sweet and romantic (which is how the word came about)
