In my opinion, Maui. There is anOcean Center in Maalaea(like an aquarium) very nice & you can walk through rhe plexiglass tunnels & observe the fish. Lots of safe beaches for both playing in the sand, picking up shells, fishing, playing in the tide pools (kids love tidepools) Lots of tidepools in Napili & Kapalua. They can snorkel & see fish or just swim all day. Many restauraunts have discounts & coupons for under 12 yrs. Boat trips to 3 other islands (only 7 miles away. these boat trips will take you into magnificent secluded bays & fish reserves You can swim w/ the dolphins, turtles & hear the whales "singing" underwater. Take a day or 2 to spend on Lanai or Molokai, both 7 mi. away. Sunset dinner cruises, speed sailing on a racing sailboat, deep sea fishing,(more for the adults. Some hotels have programs for kids, many hotel pools have waterslides, Westin, Hyatt, & a few more in Kihei.Helicopter ride is a must! Ecotourism is getting big. ATVs hiking, waterfalls both easy & hard hikes(just pick up the paperback)Some museums. Hana drive w/ waterfalls. Drive in & you can leave your ren a car at Hana, then Helicopter back to the airport on the day you leave or vice versa, or just get another car.Fun zodiac rides w/ rubber rafts they pull you on (try not to fall off) ,jetskis. Surfing bodyboarding (youcan rent all of the equipment for reasonable prices, or just rent a huge see through raft for all 4 of you).Have fun & ask as many people as you can the prople on Maui are laid back & friendly. You can watch the windsurfrs.

I suggest the Big Island, Hawaii.

Kona is a beautiful town with all of the 'old' Hawaii flavor.

Hilo is a smaller town, but the true Hawaiian spirit resides there.

Honokaa is the door to the Kalopaa Rain Forest, the Waipeai Valley, two magnificent volcanoes - Mouna Kea and Mouna Loa - and the Big Island is not so 'touristy'.

Aloha!

I have to admit, we went to Maui in Feb & I am very glad I left my little one at home. There wouldn't have been much to do with him there. It's really not a place for kids.

The only things I would have taken him to do was whale watching & the Maui Ocean center.
