It is very expensive to live here in California. I am sure once they see how high rent is they may stay with your aunt. It is getting so expensive here I know a lot of people that have moved to Arizona or New Mexico just to be able to buy a house.

are they crazy????? why do they want to move out...
I do not know your brother and his wife but since they are at your brother's aunt I am guessing that his wife is trying to move out more than he does... if that is the case he has to talk to her and make her to understand that rent is a big problem for every student + food+ shopping + so many things...
if they move while they are at college they are crazy... or may be too young and immature... they will be sorry later...
tell them to stay as long as they have a job there and are going to college... I have been in Visalia , it is a very nice place to live , winters are great... summer is good but a bit hot but still beautiful + good people .
Hope they are not going to move out

california is a great place to go to college. There is so much financial aid available that they don't need to worry about rent. Tell them to fill out the FAFSA and it will make them eligable for a pell grant. There is also something called the BOG waiver where they don't have to pay tuition and fees. They can start out at a community college and get a small apartment. I got a pell grant and a few other scholarships and they gave me so much money that I just use that for rent and I didn't have a job the first 6 months I lived on my own. I have one now but I don' t need it. There are a LOT of scholarships they can get if they are willing to just write a short essay.
They should stay at your aunts until they decide what college to go to and have filed their paperwork to get scholarships. Once their first check comes they should use part of it to move out on.

I don't live in California, but have family there (in Corona), and trust me, if they can life rent free with the aunt and uncle while going to college, that will make meeting their college expenses so much easier, especially in Southern California. About the only place in the US I know of that would be more expensive to live would be New York City.

I live in Southern California. They are in Visalia, which is the Central Valley. The Central Valley is primarily farm land. If they want to go to college, they should get jobs in a more urban area like Los Angeles (to the south) or San Francisco area (to the north). They should get a cheap apartment and start going to a community college.

Well I live in Southern California and let me tell you the rent isn't cheap and neither is buying a house.....If they don't have to pay rent at their aunt's house they should stay as long as they can and go to college....

your brother and his wife are so lucky... yes California is costly and if they can live a life rent free they have to be so grateful , it will make their life way easy... If they move they are not smart... I would say they stay there as long as they go to college, and save their money...
they are LUCKY...

I agree. California is costly. You brother and wife have a better chance in Washington...Seattle, Vancouver, and surrounding areas. There are a lot of schools there...I've enclosed a few links to get them started. Good luck to them.
